Within your preferred design software, begin by creating a new color swatch. Adjust the colour type to "Spot" to ensure accurate handling during the printing process, and assign the swatch a clear and descriptive name, such as "Silver" or "Gold," to designate the intended foil effect. To make foil elements easily distinguishable within your document, select a highly visible colour, such as 100% Cyan. |
Duplicate pages you're adding foil to, select areas you want to be foiled and colour them with the Silver swatch. Removing foil elements from original printed pages.
Be sure to leave a 2mm clear area around the edge of the design and fold areas. This is required to avoid cracking when cut by the guillotine.
NOTE: The supplied PDF must contain both print, foil elements and blank page as a single file (shown below). See our scodix file preparation guide for more information. |
IMPORTANT: Scodix is only available on one side. We advise against the use of script fonts and recommend keeping all text elements above 10pt to avoid foil bleeding within the lettering. |
